Roy Hodgson says that he is left devastated

England manager Roy Hodgson says that he is left devastated with the news that West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster could be out for up to 6 months after being diagnosed with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The former Manchester United goalkeeper is seen as one of the backups to Joe Hart. However, Hodgson has said that Foster remains as one of the top goalkeepers available for the England national team and it is a travesty to lose him at an important stage in the season. Apart from missing the rest of the campaign for West Brom, Foster will also be unavailable for the friendly and Euro 2016 qualifying matches in June, though one of the promos of Bet365 is on whether he will make it back to full fitness or not.

Apart from having to contend with the injury for Foster, Hodgson will also have to be without another top goalkeeper in the form of Fraser Forster of Southampton. This is likely to provide opportunities for Robert Green and Jack Butland, who have not been in the England reckoning for quite a while. The injuries are more serious for Forster, who has been diagnosed with a broken kneecap. He could be out of the game for almost a year. It remains to be seen if he can regain the form that he has shown this season.

“We thought we had three top-class goalkeepers and now we only have one.I’ve been in touch but there’s not much you can do to cheer him up. It’s the same with Ben Foster, who will be out for the rest of the season and a good way into next. It is a good opportunity for every goalkeeper in the country to show me what they can do. In the past we thought people were hard to replace but others came along. I was gutted for Ben and Fraser,” said the England manager after the latest injury news.
